Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, Dr. Oetker Baking Powder, Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
Add the softened butter and egg yolk to the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until the dough is smooth and well combined. If the dough is too sticky, chill it in the refrigerator for a few minutes.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough into small balls, about 2.5 cm in diameter, and place them on the baking sheet. Use your thumb to gently press a small indentation into the center of each dough ball.
Fill each thumbprint with a small amount of jam. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden.
